Plush luxurious hotel. Friendly staff, great facilities and great food/ service.

Given that this was my first time at The Merchant I was immediately impressed with the immediate reception I got from the staff. They were inviting, receptive, friendly and very professional with good customer service, in particular the lady who checked us in. The room was fabulously decorated and maintained to a luxurious and comfortable standard that it made it tempting not to leave the room at all. The Spa and Jazuzzi facilities were superb. The Spa staff were extremely professional and helpful. All in all The Merchant was a much needed break living up to its reputation as a 5 star hotel.

The only criticism I would have is that the room service when I first checked in had not been prompt, although rectified it did not make for a good first impression during this experience.

The great restaurant dining room breakfast was gorgeous, fantastic service and breakfast served at the table

The hydrotherapy room wasn't great went for 30 mins. I couldn't of managed an hour as the facilities weren't that good. The sauna and steam room where fine. The heated beds and "drench showers" were poor and the pool itself only had limited capacity and not enough jets

We had such a lovely stay there. The staff were beyond helpful and friendly- they couldn't have been better and although there weren't many children there they were tolerant of our exuberant 9 year old. Loved it.

Reading area in the lobby was a bit dark.

The old world feel and the level of comfort and the staff were very nice the location was perfect

Checking in was very slow and breakfast to early on sunday

I was on a mixed business and pleasure break and as a treat stayed at the Merchant. It was sumptuous, a complete delight, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The staff were very friendly and the restaurent excellent.

I liked the location which is why I chose it. The staff were professional and the food top class. Well done the Merchant

    breakfast pretty good

very dark almost gloomy both in public rooms but especially in bedroom--light was lousy if you wanted ec to read

Very good accommodation and food at reasonable prices.

Service in the cocktail bar was apalling - one couple walked out - we almost walked out. Staff were disorganised, promised drinks in the next two minutes - took 20 minutes to get our drinks at the table. Was not in keeping with the service displayed in the rest of the hotel.

We stayed for 1 night in this gorgeous hotel enjoying a 3course meal & breakfast. We had delish cocktails served with complimentry snacks & glasses of water before visiting a few more bars in the city centre. Our room was beautiful, again with complimentry gifts, a stunning bathroom & plush decor. We enjoyed our evening meal in the stunning Great room where the service was top class & the food was magnificant. After a beautiful breakfast the following morning we relaxed in the Hot tub (on the roof) taking in the fantastic views of Belfast. We would definately recommend this gorgeous hotel & will definately be back again! Brilliant.

Unfortunately maintenance was being carried out in the Sauna/Steam room however the rest of the hotels facilities certainly made up for this, we were not disappointed.
